On the Edge

Some time after Christmas we (me and my family) went with some friends to La Citadelle Laferrière in the north of Haiti near Cap-Haïtian. The ruins were incredible, and the view was amazing!

La Citadelle was built to protect Haiti from French attacks. It was also a safe place for the sodiers to stay in case of an attack from the French and from the south of Haiti. Christophe, who was a general in the Haitian army and chief administrator of the country's northern regions at the time, organized the building of La Citadelle. Between the years of 1805 and 1820 he had 20,000 workers working on the building process.

La Citadelle is the largest fortress in the Americas. The cisterns and storehouses in the fortress were able to store up food and water for 5,000 defenders, for as long as to one year. Inside it there are dungeons, bathing quarters, and bakery ovens. And it also contains 365 cannons of different sizes.

                 The windows...

It is one of those places you should see in your lifetime!

Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights

(Cowtown Stacy)

What a tangled web we weave
When first we try to light the eave
A jumbled mess of bulbs and wire
Almost enough to uninspire!
But soon enough the job is done
We've even found the burned out one!
We've trimmed the tree and lit the hedge
And even strung the rooftop edge
And gazing at the festive hues,
We hope it doesn't blow a fuse!

Just the Beginning

Some people say that photography is art… I say that photography is not only art but, bits and pieces of life. Every photo has a story. This blog is a snap shot of the events happening in my life, “through the lens.”

A picture is worth 1000 words, but I hope that you find them worth much more.
